1000 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

Easily take one down (because the shelves are all properly labeled with metal tags)

Pass it around (because mom said you should share)

999 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

These white, sublimated aluminum tags were created for a brewer, to help keep them organized and move product more easily. We printed a white background on the aluminum, with different color printing to create polished, long-lasting metal tags. The sublimation process actually embeds the ink in the metal and is extra durable!

Love From a Customer

We got this note from a customer the other day and just wanted to share. Being able to help people like this helps keep us going every day :)

I have been dealing with Suzanne over the weeks and everyone from this business has been prompt.  I contacted about 6 companies for quotes on my project and only two ever responded.  Not only did your company respond promptly, but the prices and quality were unsurpassed.

I hope this e-mail makes it way to senior leaders or owners of this business.  By the way, I am a professor of business at a community college and teach a small business course.  I plan on using my experience as an example of what a business should do and using the other businesses as examples of failures.

Sincerely,

Jim Baber

You are very welcome Jim!!

Do you have a story about how we helped you? Leave it in a comment here or email it to us!!

Why Anodized Aluminum Lasts Longer

Anodized aluminum tags last longer than regular aluminum, or even stainless steel tags because the structure of the metal is changed by increasing the natural oxide layer. This hardens the metal for corrosion resistance and wear resistance, even outside in harsh weather conditions.

Not only does the anodized aluminum itself last longer, but so does the printing or engraving on the tag. Engraving anodized aluminum tags  reduces the anodized layer, but can be black filled for both a longer-lasting finish and better readability. More about engraving metal tags >

Anodized aluminum tags stand up to harsh conditions

Anodizing aluminum makes the surface adhere ink better for colored aluminum tags , or color-printed metal tags that can last outdoors for years.

However, small fissures (cracks) in the surface created by the process will eventually corrode in harsh conditions if not sealed.

The best anodized aluminum tags are sealed with a crystal-clear anodic layer to withstand very harsh environments without losing readability.  They can withstand extreme weather and salt water, plus abrasives and even many chemicals for 20+ years. Aluma-Tough Tags are even used on the space shuttle!

How Does Anodizing Aluminum Tags Work?

To anodize aluminum, it goes through an electrolytic oxidation process that increases the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface.

Sheets of aluminum are dipped in an electrolytic solution and then a current is passed through it. The aluminum serves as the positive electrode and the hydrogen released by the current becomes the negative electrode. The oxygen from the current hits the surface of the aluminum and creates a build-up of aluminum oxide.

How anodizing aluminum works

The anodized aluminum sheets are then cut into tags of various shapes and sizes. This leaves one problem though, raw aluminum on the edges. Since only the surface of the aluminum sheet is anodized, when tags are cut from a sheet the raw aluminum is exposed on the edges. Although it will last for a long time, these edges will eventually corrode.

There are anodized aluminum tags available that are cut from the sheet before they go through the anodizing process. These tags will have anodized edges that will last longer in the elements.

To make anodized aluminum tags last even longer, a process called ‘Aluma-Tough’ or ‘Metal Photo’ is used. First, a special black ink is used to print the image by embedding it right into the metal. Then, a crystal clear, anodic layer is added as a super tough coating. It resists all natural elements and most man-made chemicals too. This takes a regular anodized aluminum tag and makes it last 20+ years, even in outer space or on the ocean.

Outdoor Tags and Name Plates That Withstand the Elements

If you need a tag that holds up to the sun, rain, wind or even saltwater, outdoor metal tags and plastic tags you have so many options!

Over time, the readability deteriorates on many outdoor tags and name plates. The sun and other elements fade the ink and make it hard to read. Durability is also an issue in harsh environments like marinas or on heavy equipment.

This post will help you understand the benefits and drawbacks of using different types of outdoor tags and name plates, whether it’s metal or plastic tags.

There are many variables, however, based on exactly how you’re going to use the tag. Call us anytime to discuss your project and get advice from the experts. 800-451-3330 or email info@napsupply.com.

Eye-Catching Color Metal Name Plates

Color printed metal is Vibrant and Durable

Your name plates, tags and signs will be more eye-catching,  vibrant and incredibly durable! Full-color printing on metal makes signs look better and last longer.

A special, sublimation printing process delivers amazing color metal signs, custom created for you!

Using high heat to permanently impress the image into the aluminum, sublimation printing doesn’t just print on top of the surface. It actually embeds the image into the metal, making it scratch proof and incredibly long lasting. The printing process uses heat to cause the CMYK dyes to vaporize and permeate the surface being printed. How sublimation printing works >

Aluminum printing with color is ideal for:

  • Custom metal signs
  • ID plates, labels and tags
  • Metal name plates
  • Machinery tags

Color metal name plates, signs, tags and more

Sublimation aluminum printing delivers a higher quality image than other printing methods, with durable, longer lasting results – years and years indoors, and 3-4 years outdoors with a UV coating. We don’t recommend using color-printed metal signs and tags outside without a protective UV coating.

Color printing on metal has hundreds of color choices

We can print hundreds of colors on any size and shape metal plate, up to 24” x 48”, from small ID tags and name plates to large format signs and photographic aluminum prints.

Harsh Marine Environments Demand Tough Metal Tags

Bright sunlight, sea salt, harsh chemicals and other abrasives associated with marine life slowly destroy standard metal nameplates.

Marine asset tags on boats, shipping container ID plates, exposed barcode labels and off-shore crane control panels must be designed to withstand the harsh, marine environments they operate in.

The constant beating of the sun is a big challenge with metal nameplates used in marine applications. The UV rays fade the printing and over a short amount of time, can leave the metal tag completely unreadable. This happens quickly with standard metal nameplates.

But there is a solution.
Metal tags for marine use AlumaTough and Metalphoto tags

AlumaTough (Metalphoto®) Photosensitive Anodized Aluminum for Marine Use

AlumaTough metal tags, nameplates and labels are guaranteed to withstand the harsh marine environment for 20+ years without fading or corroding!

This is possible because the printing is actually metallic particles that are sealed onto an aluminum base with a glass-clear and sapphire-hard Anodic layer.

The result is a long-lasting, ultra-durable finish that not only resists the fading UV rays of the sun, but also resists chemicals, paint, abrasion and sea salt! Plus, anodized aluminum plates are completely recyclable.

AlumaTough (Metalphoto®) metal nameplates, labels and tags are designed to meet even the strictest specifications for commercial, governmental and military marine uses. Their photo-quality printing and durability make them the standard metal plate for marine environments, and any harsh, outdoor setting.
